È un biopic sperimentale sulle vicissitudini del paese vesuviano di San Giuseppe, attraverso lo sguardo singolare di un mito vivente della zona vesuviana, immaginabile parte integrante dello stemma di San Giuseppe Vesuviano: Nino Angelo Tessitore; ossia, il Conte di Mondragone – titolo unanimemente conferitogli dal popolo vesuviano e nel tempo arricchito di leggende, curato e consolidato dal Conte stesso con la denominazione di una casata immaginaria, in modo che sarebbe da chiedersi se il Conte, spesso a confronto con aspre disavventure, non si fosse ispirato proprio alla leggenda del Conte di Montecristo, che dopo quattordici anni di prigionia politica e lungo tempo trascorso in esilio in giro per il mondo – unico punto di riferimento l’Isola di Montecristo –, torna in patria come dotto italiano dai modi napoletani ed enigma erudito, a raccogliere la speme gettata fra gli amici di un tempo e diffondere il terrore fra i traditori, ma ciò sempre con un sorriso imperscrutabile sulle labbra. C’è un’unica grandissima differenza tra il nobile di Mondragone ed il suo modello di Montecristo; quattordici anni di disperata prigionia hanno reso l’ultimo insensibile a molti piaceri materiali, mentre il Conte di Mondragone è capace di superare una distanza di 8.000 chilometri per il semplice gusto di un agnello arrosto.
Il Conte di Mondragone è parte di una collana audiovisiva dedicata al Golfo di Napoli, che nel 2016 ha inizio con uno sketch sulla cultura femminile come rispecchiata da una residenza estiva nell’isola di Capri, e un annuncio audiovisivo che ci conduce nel paese di San Giuseppe Vesuviano sul versante orientale del Vesuvio. Esso fa da preludio a un inno audiovisivo sul vulcano, contenitore di impressioni d’infanzia sparse per il paese vesuviano. L’inno al Vesuvio è succeduto da una coda con riferimento al racconto de “L’isola che non c’è”, contrapponendo la cultura giovanile locale al rituale dei Battenti vesuviani. Nel 2017 segue un intermezzo intitolato Italia, portamdoci a Ottaviano, capoluogo storico del versante vesuviano orientale, da cui San Giuseppe e Terzigno acquisirono l’indipendenza dopo essersi formati come nuovi rioni del capoluogo (San Gennarello resta sotto l’amministrazione ottavianese) – dedicato agli amanti di architettura che vogliano scoprire una delle maggiori passeggiate archeologiche – dimenticata –, che spiccano dal percorso circumvesuviano. Nel 2018 torniamo a valle col Conte di Mondragone per approfondire l’identità vesuviana; la collana proseguirà con un lungometraggio di finzione volto allo sguardo dei piccoli su di un mondo imparagonabile, prima di tentare un saggio vulcanologico esclusivamente dedicato al duplice vulcano della regione, così travalicando il confine vesuviano demarcato dal Monte Somma per finalmente dedicarci all’eterna storia della città di Napoli e province.

The Count of Mondragone is an experimental biopic on the vicissitudes of the Vesuvian city of San Giuseppe through the unique perspective of one of the Vesuvian’s zone living myths, imaginable part of heart of San Giuseppe Vesuviano’s coat of arms: Nino Angelo Tessitore; or, the Count of Mondragone – a title unanimously conferred him by the Vesuvian people, and in time adorned with many legends, curated and grounded by the Count itself with an imaginary noble house – to the point that one could ask if the Count, in the face of hard misadventures, has indeed been inspired by the legend of the Count of Montecristo who, after fourteen years of political imprisonment, and a long time spent in exile around the world – only point of reference the Island of Montecristo –, returns home like an Italian scholar of Neapolitan manners and learned enigma, to harvest lost hopes among old friends and threaten the traitors with terror, but this always with an inscrutable smile on his lips. There’s only one great difference between the gentleman from Mondragone and his model from Montecristo; fourteen years of desperate imprisonment have rendered the latter insensible to many material pleasures, whereas the Count of Mondragone is capable to mount a distance of 8.000 kilometres for the only pleasure of tasting a roasted lamb.
The Count of Mondragone is part of an audiovisual sequel dedicated to the Gulf of Naples, beginning in 2016 with a sketch about women’s culture as reflected by a summer residence on the island of Capri, and an audiovisual announcement leading us to the town of San Giuseppe on the oriental side of mount Vesuvius. It’s kind of a prelude to an audiovisual anthem collecting impressions from childhood spread over the Vesuvian town. Mount Vesuvius’ anthem is followed by a coda referring to the story of Neverland, juxtaposing the local youth-culture with the ritual of the Vesuvian so called Battenti. In 2017 follows an intermezzo called Italia leading us to Ottaviano, mount Vesuvius’ historical headquarter on its oriental side, and from which San Giuseppe and Terzigno became independent after having been formed as new districts to the headquarter (San Gennarello remains under Ottaviano’s administration) – dedicated to all fans of architecture, who would like to discover one of the major archeological walks – forgotten – standing out along the Circumvesuviana’s circuit. In 2018 we return to the valley with the Count of Mondragone to study in deep the Vesuvian identity; the sequel will be continued with a feature-film taking its perspective from those of children onto a world without comparison, before trying a volcanological essay exclusively dedicated to the region’s double-volcano, so as to finally overcome the Vesuvian border as demarcated by mount Somma, and dedicate ourselves to the eternal history of the city of Naples, and its provinces.
